Description

The IRL Project was launched in 2023 to improve rural livelihoods by training small farmers, especially women and youth, in climate-smart agriculture, greenhouse-based protected farming, livestock management, food safety, and entrepreneurship. The project included the distribution of greenhouses, broiler chicks, and renovation of livestock facilities in Kitson Town, St. Catherine. It was funded by a US$1 million investment from the Government of India through the India-United Nations Fund for Development Partnership and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and coordinated by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).
