IMR ProRanger Program

ProRanger is a National Park Service (NPS)-Texas A&M University (TAMU) collaborative effort to teach university students about visitor and resource protection within the NPS. The program began in September 2015 and currently operates under a MOU between the National Park Service and Texas A&M University and is implemented under existing GC CESU Master Cooperative Agreement P12AC51051, Task Agreement P15AC0144. Students will learn through classroom experience and then have opportunities to acquire experience and hone skills through seasonal work in National Parks. This program will prepare participating students for careers in NPS law enforcement (LE). The program will create a diverse pool of potential federal employees. The increased diversity in the NPS workforce will enhance the visitorsâ¿¿ experience in their National Parks by having personnel that better resemble the demographics of our Nation. TAMU will benefit from recruitment of diverse students to attend the institution which will result in a better classroom experience for all students. The contribution of these students in our National Parks will aid in sustaining public resources for current and future visitors.
