Description
Description | "The EU-LACE project aims to enhance European Union (EU) studies at Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (Inalco), a leading institution in languages and area studies based in Paris, by creating a robust curriculum focused on EU Affairs. This initiative responds to the need for integrating EU-focused courses into an already vast educational framework, which could better reflect the EU’s significant role in shaping our students’ academic and professional futures. As part of this initiative, three credit-bearing courses will be introduced: ""European Integration: History, Institutions and Values"", ""European Union Institutions: Policy Dynamics and Challenges"", and ""EU External Action: Promoting European Values and Interests."" The courses will be freely accessible to our 400 students enrolled in International Relations and European Studies programmes, as well as the thousands more studying key regions of EU external policy such as China, Russia or the Arab World. The project's objectives are twofold. First, it intends to increase the visibility and depth of EU Studies at Inalco, addressing a long-standing gap in the curriculum. Second, it intends to promote the values and professional opportunities associated with the European Union. Through expert-led teaching, the joint inclusion of academics and practitioners in the curriculum, and a strong focus on impact measurement and dissemination, the project will contribute to the development of informed, engaged EU citizens. The expected outcomes include a significant rise in the number of students pursuing EU-related careers, improved institutional integration of EU studies at Inalco, and strengthened partnerships with EU stakeholders. By expanding the institution’s Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet activities, the EU-LACE project will raise awareness of the EU’s impact on global affairs, fostering greater engagement with EU studies within our academic community and beyond." |
