_x000C_IFC’s Carbon Finance Unit, on behalf of the IFC-Netherlands Carbon Facility (INCaF), is evaluating the purchase of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from already operating wind energy installations in India, aggregating 75 MW. These installations all use the E-40 600kW wind turbine manufactured, installed and maintained by Enercon India Ltd. (EIL). EIL is a 54% subsidiary of Enercon Gmbh, based in Germany and one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers in the world. The wind turbines are located in two sites, with 57.6MW located at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in North India and 17.4MW located in Chitradurga, Karnataka in South India. These wind projects will result in CERs due to the avoidance of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel based electricity generation. Although these wind projects are owned by 18 companies with separate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the respective State Electricity Boards, EIL is the contracted operator for all of these projects. INCaF anticipates purchasing 1.2 million CERs or up to 90% of the total volume. EIL manufactures wind turbines at its production facility in Daman and concrete wind towers at facilities in Gujarat.
