Description

Description

Our school is particularly interested in actions that strengthen students' European citizenship and their willingness to participate in society. In the past four years, our school has started to participate in national and European activities, such as the Conference on the future of Europe, Europe Direct Office events, the 44th and 42nd Conference of the European Youth Parliament of Greece in December 2022, and 2021, Euroscola 2022 competition, etwinning projects (two of them were awarded a quality label), continued collaborations with local bodies, etc. Besides, our school is a European Parliament Ambassador school for three consecutive school years. In order to provide an opportunity to our students to help them understand what European values stand for, what active citizenship means in participatory democracy, and the impact of the EU policymaking process on young people we would like to implement a relevant school project (national and/or etwinning) and to organize educational school visits to the European institutional seats; Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, or Strasbourg. The educational visits will be held in addition to the implementation of the aforementioned school project (Inclusion and Democracy in Europe) that will have as a final product the designing and construction of a board game about European history, values, and institutions. Furthermore, the students will produce informative videos -as an educational guide- about each European institutional seat they visit that will be used as educational material in our school lessons. Six teachers and 25 -35 students will be involved in the project, aiming to the application of one or more students for the Your Europe, Your Say! event in the next school year. These educational visits and activities will enhance students' awareness of the importance of elections and the key benefits of participating in the democratic process by voting, staying informed, and tackling mis/disinformation and discrimination.
