Inclusion of Wayleave Compensation in Energy Project Loans

planned

A parliamentary committee has recommended that all future energy project loans include funding for wayleave compensation to avoid delays in implementation. Wayleave refers to a legal agreement allowing service providers to install and maintain infrastructure on private land in exchange for a fee. The committee directed the Principal Secretaries for Energy and the National Treasury to ensure sufficient counterpart funding is specifically set aside for wayleave payments to support timely project completion.
