Description
Description | """IDEU - Inclusive Digitalisation in the EU” project will directly involve more than 2,300 citizens from diverse backgrounds from Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Romania and Spain in a trans-national crowdsourcing process to solicit the so-called “wisdom of the crowd” on EU digital transformation policies. The project will encourage citizens, including young persons, to understand the policymaking process, demonstrating practically how to engage in the democratic life of the EU and enabling citizens to publicly exchange their views on digital transformation policies that leave no one behind. Due to its transnational nature, the project will propose practical solutions that can be implemented through cooperation at European level, supporting the sharing of good practices and ensuring a direct link with the policymaking process on digital transformation at local, national and European levels. The project will enhance stakeholders’ knowledge and understanding of crowdsourcing as an innovative digital democracy method that has the potential to improve representative democracy by complementing it with more direct citizen engagement in decision-making processes. This can lead to policy perspectives that reflect more accurately citizens' concerns, thus renewing an essential promise of democracy: that citizens are not only heard but, above all, are involved in the development of public policies that affect them. By maintaining a bottom-up approach, the project specifically focuses on promoting democratic participation through debating the future of Europe, thereby contributing to the promotion of EU values, fundamental rights and democracy in the digital era, and to the practical implementation of the EDAP and the Citizenship Report 2020 to “support the active participation of citizens in the democratic process and take innovative approaches to involving them in the legislative process to ensure that EU laws are fit-for-purpose and align with EU values""." |
