Description

Description

The two project partners jointly planned this project, in which two cross-border tournaments including fencing events for active people, young people and people with disabilities will be organised, one in Saarland and the other in Luxembourg. These two tournaments are especially open to wheelchair fencers. In principle, anyone can participate in wheelchair fencing, which is at a disadvantage compared to non-disabled fencing due to a permanent restriction. This applies not only to people in wheelchairs, but also to people who are amputated or have a stiff knee. Wheelchair fencing is an exciting and very inclusive sport that offers great potential. In this sport, fencers can also sit in a wheelchair to literally fight at eye level with disabled athletes. In order to promote mutual understanding and to offer communication opportunities beyond the tournament, a tournament in which the two clubs present themselves and above all describe wheelchair fencing in its many facets will be presented at the tournament venues. This fencing tournament will be jointly designed by the two project partners and will serve as a framework for cross-border information on wheelchair fencing in general and the respective clubs in particular, on tournament days.
