Description

Description

The Central statistical bureau of Latvia (CSB) plans to carry out following actions in the frame of project: - Data collection of new/amended modules’ variables (as defined in the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/256) including transmission of the 2022 three yearly module on Health and the six yearly module on Quality of life and voluntary module on impact of COVID-19 (Art 14, Regulation 2019/1700). - Redesign of the current weighting methodology. Starting with 2021 the CSB has introduced two important changes related to the production of social statistics. Firstly, decision not to provide statistics on the resident population by their actual place of residence anymore has been made. Secondly, the CSB have decided to harmonize population estimates derived from several household surveys to those obtained from the LFS survey. Regarding the EU-SILC survey, such decision to harmonize population estimates to those derived from the LFS survey has not been made yet and the assessment of how such harmonization may affect the EU-SILC is necessary. Therefore, our current EU-SILC weighting scheme must be evaluated and redesigned accordingly to accommodate those changes. - EU-SILC advertising campaign. CSB of Latvia within Grant Project “SILC survey - Statistical infrastucture under IESS - 2021 module” financed by Eurostat during EU-SILC 2021 fieldwork already implemented few activities with main aim to increase response rates ( 1) advertising in regional newspapers, 2) special leaflet for EU-SILC respondents) and according to provisional data response rate increased by 6.2 percent points (from 65.5 % in 2020 to 71,7 % in 2021). We consider that it is very good result, and we would like to continue similar activities in future, including during EU-SILC 2022 fieldwork: within the Grant project CSB of Latvia plans to develop infographics to publish in media and social networks and to organize advertising of EU-SILC in regional newspapers.
