The objectives of the Income Support and Employability Project for El Salvador are to: (i) provide temporary income support to the urban vulnerable poor; (ii) improve the coverage of labor intermediation and training services, to the urban vulnerable poor; and (iii) improve the institutional capacity of the Borrower to develop an integrated social protection system. There are three components to the project: (1) the design and implementation of a temporary income support program (PATI) that will ensure that a number of poor and vulnerable urban dwellers will receive benefits in exchange for their participation in a community activity and training; (2) the strengthening of labor intermediation, information, and occupational training systems, by expanding the network of intermediation services, and developing a national strategy for occupational training; and (3) the design and development of a universal social protection system (SPSU), by strengthening the organizational and technical capacity of the STP (Secretaria Tecnica de la Presidencia - Technical Secretariat of the Presidency).
