Description
Description | Core problem In order to achieve sustainable development of the private sector in Togo, investments by domestic and foreign investors in particular must increase. However, a wide range of political and commercial risks, coupled with increasing risk aversion (partly caused by the Covid-19 pandemic), are leading to increased investment uncertainty in Togo. The African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) provides needs-based insurance against political and commercial risks. ATI is a pan-African insurance agency for Africa with headquarters in Nairobi, which is majority owned by its member countries and jointly managed by them. In Togo, however, future demand for insurance from ATI will no longer be able to be met in the near future due to a lack of sufficient equity deposits from Togo with ATI. The development of trade and investment in the private sector in particular is suffering as a result. Module objective Contribution to increasing international trade and domestic and foreign investment in Togo with a focus on the private sector. Key outputs Increase in ATI's risk-bearing capacity for future hedging of trade and investment transactions in Togo. Target group The immediate target group of the project are domestic companies and other national and international economic actors in the private sector, (commercial) banks, development finance institutions, importers and exporters, project developers, etc. The indirect target group includes the local population and MSMEs, which benefit from the measures associated with the secured investments, such as securing and creating jobs in Togo or increasing purchasing power. Contribution to the national implementation of Agenda 2030 The FC module has references to several goals of Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs). A contribution is made in particular to SDGs 1, 8, 9 and 17. |
