Description | The EFJ has been a long-standing defender and champion of EU fundamental values enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights, specifically on Articles. 11 and 31, (related to media freedom issues), as well as Articles 27 to 34 (related to workers’ rights). It is in the missions of the EFJ to defend and promote these fundamental values in its daily work. This project will contribute to achieving the overarching objective of the call to protect, promote and raise awareness of the EU values enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The EFJ will amplify EU Charter's principles through advocacy, training, and collaboration with national journalists' organisations, emphasising the importance of these rights for democratic societies. The activities proposed will address the following priorities of the call: - promoting and protecting fundamental rights and EU values as enshrined in the Charter (specifically Articles. 11 & 31, related to media freedom issues, & Articles 27 - 34 related to workers’ rights ); - Promoting diversity and inclusion at the workplace in the media sector; - Promoting gender equality in the media sector - Promoting democratic standards and fight disinformation To achieve the priorities and the objectives, the EFJ will carry out the following activities (which have already been built into its annual working programme) 1. Thematic expert groups workshops (promoting workers’ rights and gender equality and diversity) 2. European capacity building/advocacy training (on EU media freedom issues) 3. A third-party financial scheme “National Capacity building Fund” with the aim to improve the capacity of national journalists’ organisations to achieve the goals to protect and promote rights and EU values in the field of media freedom and media workers’ rights, create a more supportive environment for CSOs and human rights defenders supporting journalists of the project at local and national level will be set up. |
