Description

India has installed 5.08 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) across the country as of October 31, 2025, reflecting rapid expansion in digital infrastructure. The government is also improving rural connectivity through the BharatNet project, which has made 2.14 lakh Gram Panchayats service-ready and provided over 13.66 lakh Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections. Additional initiatives include the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) to expand BharatNet, provide mobile connectivity in Left Wing Extremism-affected regions, improve telecom access in aspirational districts, and enhance mobile services in remote border areas. The 4G Saturation Scheme is being implemented to ensure 4G connectivity in every uncovered village. In Rajasthan, 1,409 mobile towers with 4G technology have been installed under DBN-funded schemes, delivering mobile services to 1,684 rural villages.
