It is designed to supply diesel from India to Bangladesh, reducing transportation costs and time, and mitigating energy crisis in Bangladesh. The project was agreed upon in November 2018, construction started in March 2020, and the pipeline is near completion. The pipeline will initially import 250,000 tons of diesel annually, with plans to increase to 4 to 5 million tons per year under a 15-year agreement. |
