Description
Description | With this measure, we want to support the Indian government in implementing its measures to reform electricity distribution companies (Discoms), which are bundled under the so-called Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). Funding proposals have been submitted by Discoms in various federal states. They include numerous individual measures to reduce technical and commercial losses, to improve grid control and security of supply for existing and future needs, and to reduce electrical accidents with personal injuries. An accompanying measure (BM), e.g. for technical or commercial support of the desired improvements at the Discoms, is still being defined. The module objective is to make a contribution to improving the secure, stable, climate- and environmentally-friendly electricity supply of private, commercial and institutional electricity consumers through investments in the distribution network infrastructure. The target group are private, commercial and institutional consumers connected to the distribution network in up to 19 federal states, whose investment measures are supported by the REC as a financial intermediary. The borrower will be REC Ltd., a subsidiary of PFC Ltd., a sector financing institution majority owned by the state, both Maharatna companies under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy. REC and PFC are the two state-appointed nodal agencies for the implementation and financing of the Revamped Distribution Sector. |
