Description | The Indian Economic Zone was proposed within Bangladesh's Mirsarai Economic Zone, with India approving $115 million in principle in 2020 to support infrastructure development over 900 acres in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City. However, according to Ashik Chowdhury, Chairman of the Bangladesh Industrial Development Authority (BIDA), the Indian Economic Zone exists only on paper with no actual progress or major work done, and the area marked is a forest area. Since the interim government assumed office in August last year, there has been no progress on the project, and it is in a complete pause or postponement position. |
