Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant Revival

planned

The owner of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant near New York City is reconsidering restarting the long-shuttered plant to meet surging power demand. The project would involve reversing the decommissioning work done since its closure in 2021, including rebuilding reactor components and patching containment domes. The estimated cost is $10 billion, and the project would take approximately four years to complete. The revival faces challenges including political opposition and the need for significant government funding.
