An annual sand transfer project at Indian River Inlet in Delaware involving moving sand from the south side of the inlet to the north side to protect beaches, infrastructure, and coastal communities from erosion and severe storms. The project uses a complex system of pipes and pumps to move a mixture of sand and water across the inlet, where it is deposited onto the beach and shaped by heavy equipment.
