The project involves the construction of India's first eight-lane tunnel near the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota, Rajasthan, as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The 4.9-kilometre-long tunnel aims to reduce travel time from Gurugram to Vadodara from 20-22 hours to 10-12 hours, improve connectivity, boost development, and ease traffic and curved road travel. Special care was taken during construction to avoid disturbing wildlife, and the tunnel is designed so animals do not realize vehicles are passing underneath. The tunnel will eliminate the need to travel through 25 kilometres of winding roads near Kota, making the journey smoother and safer. The expressway is an eight-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway spanning 1380 kilometres, connecting Delhi and Mumbai, passing through multiple states and major cities.
