Description

Description

A consortium led by Bengaluru-based space startup Pixxel, along with partners Piersight Space, Satsure Analytics, and Dhruva Space, has won the bid to design, build, and operate India's first fully indigenous commercial earth observation (EO) satellite constellation under the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre's (IN-SPACe) public-private partnership (EO-PPP) model. Over the next four years, the consortium will invest over Rs 1,200 crore to deploy 12 satellites equipped with optical, hyperspectral, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors. These satellites will provide high-resolution data for applications including agriculture, urban planning, disaster management, climate monitoring, and national security. The EO constellation will be deployed in phases to ensure continuous service upgrades and expanded coverage, operating on a satellite-as-a-service model to guarantee national access to advanced EO data while leveraging private-sector agility.
