Description
Description | Nagpur Metro has commissioned India's first inter track solar project by installing photovoltaic panels between operational metro tracks at its Hingna depot. The pilot installation spans a 200-metre stretch between two live tracks, utilizing previously unused space. The system has a capacity of 50 kWp and is expected to generate around 70,000 units of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by nearly 65 tonnes each year. The project was implemented by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited through a public-private partnership model with no upfront investment from the metro operator. The generated power will be used for captive consumption without relying on net metering. |
