India's First Mining Tourism Project in Jharkhand

planned

The project is India's first-ever mining tourism initiative launched in Jharkhand through a Memorandum of Understanding between Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). It aims to open operational coal mines to the public, including students, tourists, and research groups, offering insights into mining processes, history, and the local economy. The initiative includes guided mine visits, interpretation centres, safety briefings, and immersive educational experiences. Expansion plans involve including Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) to broaden the tourism circuit.
