Description | On Independence Day 2025, BLW unveiled India's first removable solar panel system installed between active railway tracks on Line No. 19 of the BLW workshop. The pilot project includes 28 bifacial monocrystalline solar panels spanning 70 metres with a total capacity of 15 kWp. The panels are mounted on concrete track sleepers using an indigenous installation process, secured with rubber mounting pads and epoxy adhesive to resist vibrations and allow quick removal for track maintenance. This initiative aims to utilize idle spaces between tracks for renewable energy generation and aligns with Indian Railways' vision of adopting renewable energy. |
