Description | Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), also known as Bareka, has installed India's first removable solar panel system between active railway tracks. The pilot project involves installation of 28 bifacial monocrystalline solar panels spanning 70 metres with a total capacity of 15 kWp, mounted on concrete track sleepers using an indigenously designed installation procedure that allows easy removal during track maintenance without disrupting train operations. This initiative complements existing rooftop solar power plants at BLW and is part of Indian Railways’ sustainable energy solutions. |
