Description | India's Project 77 is an indigenous nuclear-powered attack submarine program aiming to build advanced SSNs with 24 missile launch cells, long-range strike capability, stealth features, and future hypersonic missile support. The first two submarines were cleared in October 2024, with a project value of about ₹40,000 crore, to be built at the Ship Building Centre in Visakhapatnam. The program aims to operate six SSNs in total, with the first two expected by 2036-37 and the next pair around 2038-39. |
