Description
Description | India has decided to commission only domestically produced solar ingots and wafers for renewable energy firms starting June 2028. This strategy aims to reduce dependency on Chinese imports and develop an integrated value chain for a localized solar manufacturing ecosystem. The policy extends existing regulations requiring locally assembled solar panels and mandates the use of locally manufactured solar cells from June 2026. The current production capacity is around 2 GW with plans for expansion by companies like Tata Power, Waaree Energies, and Indosol Solar. |
