India is engaging in talks with Argentina, Indonesia, and Oman at a global steel summit to boost supplies of steelmaking raw materials such as coking coal, iron ore, and critical minerals. The initiative aims to secure upstream inputs to support rising domestic steel production driven by infrastructure spending and economic growth. The government plans to secure stable supplies of coking coal, lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements, diversify suppliers, and access technology partnerships to maintain output and support higher exports.
