The Indigenous and Afro-Peruvian Peoples Development Project supports the strategic objective of reducing an extreme poverty, by building the capacity of communities, and organizations to foster their own development. The components includes: 1) institutional strengthening of the Technical Secretariat of Indigenous Affairs, and the Multisectoral Commission of Indigenous Affairs. Equipment and office supplies, in addition to technical staff, operating costs, and training will be financed, as will the Geographic Information System software, and exchanges with institutions, working on capacity building; 2) Training will be provided for participatory planning of community sub-projects, and related financial management, and administration. Entrepreneurial, and income generating activities will be strengthened, while the cultural patrimony, and development of human resources will be reinforced through organizational, technical, and legal training; 3) technical assistance will be provided to revise the legal framework regarding indigenous peoples, and, consultation for legal reform development will be financed; 4) training on community rights, issues, and cultures will be provided for the development of an awareness campaign and information; 5) pre-investment studies will focus on financial resource allocation, and participatory community development; and, 6) project management costs will be provided.
