The Indigenous Community Development Project, will establish the basis for community-driven development, and management of natural resources on indigenous lands. Project components include: 1) social and cultural strengthening of indigenous communities, to be supported through capacity building for self-development, and the promotion of activities closely related to their traditional knowledge, and culture, including handicrafts, and cultural exchanges. Sub-components include capacity-building and studies, technical assistance(TA) in legal matters and conflict resolution; local planning, workshops and learning events, and, improving basic social services; 2) sustainable use of natural resources, through the formulation of a management plan, identifying conservation priorities, areas for sustainable development investments, and specific development sub-projects, in most sectors. Management and TA will be provided, including the adoption of a gender approach to ensure fair access to the project's benefits; and, 3) project management, covering administrative costs, monitoring and evaluation best practices, and an active communications, and dissemination program to inform indigenous communities, and stakeholders about the project.
