Indigenous Land Based Resiliency - Phase 2

This project is Phase 2 of a two-phased project to construct a Resiliency Lodge in the Village of Gagetown, New Brunswick, in order to provide healing and support Indigenous women. The Phase 2 project will construct a 3,330 sq.ft. a Gathering Centre building to host healing activities, ceremonies and community gatherings. Phase 1 is underway and in implementation under ICIP. The centre expects to accommodate approximately 28 monthly participants who will participate in ceremonies, counselling, and traditional teachings. The centre will create employment for the local indigenous community and is in line with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, which calls for a decolonizing approach and Indigenous led solutions and services. The centre will provide needed cultural and trauma-informed healing services for Indigenous women, Two Spirit and gender diverse people coming from both on and off-reserve communities. The project will result in increased access to, and increased quality of, community and cultural infrastructure.
