Description

Description

The project involves the design and development of an indigenous unmanned combat search and rescue (CSAR) drone for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The drone is intended to rescue aircrew without risking piloted aircraft and can also ferry logistic material and supplies in difficult terrains. It is a runway-independent UAV capable of auto-takeoff, navigation, and landing, with integrated Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT). It can operate from sea level to 16,000 ft (up to 20,000 ft if desirable), has a radius of action of at least 200 km with 45 minutes loiter time, and can carry at least 400 kg including four passengers and stretchers. The project is under the Make-I category, with government support for 70% of development costs and Indian vendors covering 30%. After development, procurement will follow the Buy (Indian-IDDM) route ensuring at least 50% indigenous content.
