Description

Description

Spanish fashion group Inditex has secured a favourable environmental impact statement (EIS) for a proposed 19.8-MW wind farm to be built at the outer port of A Coruna, in Spain’s Galicia region. The project involves installing three wind turbines in Arteixo municipality, along with associated infrastructure such as access roads, turbine assembly platforms, underground cabling, a meteorological mast, and expansion of an existing electricity substation. The wind farm will comprise three turbines of around 6.6 MW each, limited to 6 MW per unit, with a hub height of 115 metres and a rotor diameter of 170 metres. The project also includes extending Inditex’s existing 20/132 kilovolt substation to connect the generated electricity to the local distribution network and supply power to Inditex’s campus in Arteixo. The environmental approval does not exempt the developer from obtaining other permits and licenses required under Spanish law before construction can begin. Inditex developed the project as a self-consumption scheme through its special purpose vehicle Inditex Renovables, launched in April 2021.
