Description
Description | iDecide project aims to raise awareness about data protection reform, especially the rights of individuals, among the general public in Slovenia. The new data protection framework presents a significant change and challenge for all stakeholders. Individuals are facing ever more risks pertaining to data processing activities, not necessarily being able to protect their rights. Therefore there is currently a pressing need for the general public to be empowered by awareness rising activities, coming from a reliable source. The activities of iDecide project will be targeted to three vulnerable groups in the general public: older minors/young adults (16– 19 years old), elderly (over 65 years old) and the general working population. The project aims to achieve empowerment of the target groups by conducting a number of interconnected activities, focusing on raising awareness about data processing risks, pertaining to their context, about the rights they have and the paths to exercise them. By approaching the groups with targeted educational materials (3 sets) and in collaboration with different cooperating institutions, the project will achieve a multiplying long term effect, as it will build on the concept of “training the trainers”. The educators and experts from educational institutions and workers associations/trade unions (app 480 persons from all regions) will be trained at 6 educational seminars to further disseminate the project's educational materials to the end recipients from target groups even after the project. The project will connect these efforts with continuous expert support offered to the general public in the form of a phone and e-mail hotline, information on websites and lectures of experts at external events. This way the project will also contribute to higher levels of compliance with the new rules among data controllers and processors, including SMEs, since empowered individuals have the power to push for greater respect of data protection rules. |
