Description

Description

The project will unlock access to financial services for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in green sectors or implementing green practices, by capitalizing a Green Risk Sharing Facility (GRSF) for financial institutions. The GRSF will reduce the cost of risk and incentivize lenders to enter green markets. This facility will be targeted to financial institutions (banks and fintech) that have sufficient funding and liquidity but hesitate to allocate funding to green firms without additional guarantees due to the perceived high risk. The financing instrument for the project is an IPF with Performance Based Conditions (PBCs) and Financial Intermediaries (FI) modalities. The GRSF is expected to facilitate US$ 2 billion in credit (Private Capital Mobilized) to at least 20,000 SMEs and maximize Climate Co-Benefits.
