Description
Description | The Industrial Environmental Fund (FODEP) finances grants for downstream and integrated measures in the areas of wastewater pre-treatment, water conservation, air pollution control and internal waste management as well as waste disposal and recycling measures. While downstream measures reduce environmentally harmful emissions at the end of the production process, integrated measures are implemented in the production process and directly prevent emissions from occurring. The overarching development policy objective of the measure is to contribute to protecting the environment and in particular the scarce water resources, as well as to reducing health risks for the Tunisian population. The objectives of the FC measure are to reduce pollutant emissions and/or resource consumption by companies participating in the program and to create efficient access for the target group to financing for environmental protection investments. The immediate target group of the measure is industrial, commercial and service companies that carry out investment measures with positive environmental impacts, as well as waste management companies. The indirect target group are the employees of the subsidized companies and the people who live in the catchment area of the polluting companies and whose health is affected by untreated wastewater, air pollution or improper waste disposal. The measure is run by the Tunisian environmental agency Agence National de la Protection de l'Environnement (ANPE). This agency passes on subsidies to private companies that cover a maximum of 20% of the total investment. A total of EUR 4 million in subsidies is available. |
