Industrial Loft Conversion of 180 m² Apartment in Copacabana

A standard 180 m² apartment in Copacabana, originally with three bedrooms, was transformed into an urban, industrial loft by the VRO Arquitetura studio led by architect Vivian Reimers. The project involved a complete redesign of the floor plan to create a large, open, fluid, and fully integrated space inspired by classic New York Soho lofts, featuring exposed structures, raw materials, and an industrial style with a sophisticated gray palette, dark textures, deep woods, metal structures, and exposed beams. The kitchen layout was a major challenge due to exposed vertical plumbing pipes, which were incorporated into the design by cladding the columns to support a metal structure suspended over the stove. The private area includes an integrated master suite with a delicate muxarabi panel partition for privacy and natural light. The design also includes custom furniture for pets and targeted lighting to enhance textures and volumes.
