Description
Description | The project is to finance a modernization program for Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD or the company) Ukrainian steel making facilities, and includes a program to: - improve the environmental performance and bring them up to World Bank Group standards, including a time-bound program to close open-hearth furnaces, and- modernize and de-bottleneck operations to improve competitiveness. Environmental conditions in the plants are currently poor and need improvement, especially the sinter shops and open hearth furnaces, which need replacing with more environmentally friendly equipment. ISD has already started making environmental related investments in this regard. |
