Description

Description

The project aims to design and establish the foundations for the Australian Industry Energy Transitions Initiative (ETI), which supports Australian industry to develop pathways and actions to help critical supply chains reduce their emissions . The project focuses on five supply chains of steel, aluminium and bauxite, liquefied natural gas, other metals (such as lithium, copper and nickel), and chemicals including plastics, fertilisers and explosives. These industries are:Large sources of emissions, accounting for one third of all global emissionsTechnically challenging to decarbonise (hard-to-abate)Considered key exports or fundamental to the domestic economy.Australian industry forms part of these globally emissions intensive supply chains and will play a critical role in reducing emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. There is an opportunity to accelerate the capability of Australian industries to become major suppliers in a decarbonised global economy.
