The Second Woodworking Project for Finland will finance the uncovered capital needs of seven projects of the Finnish woodworking industry, which represent a major part of the industry's investment program over the next three years. The projects will result in increases of 375,000 tons in annual capacity for the production of sulphate pulp, 172,000 tons of newsprint, and high-grade printing papers and 80,000 tons of kraft paper. The demand for Finnish pulp and paper products will grow sufficiently over the next few years to absorb the bulk of the additional production. This project, together with other improvements presently under way or planned, would improve the technical standards and operating efficiency of the mill, will make substantial savings in power costs and increase the profitability of the company's industrial operations.
