Description | In May 2012, Consorcio Energias del Peru, a partnership of the companies Energía Integral Andina (Colombia), Equitec (Peru), Energy Partners SAC (Peru) and Green Power Trading Services (Colombia), was granted the authorization to build and operate two diesel-fueled power plants located at the municipalities of Pucallpa (Province of Coronel Portillo) and Tambopata (Province of Madre de Dios). The power plants were named: Central Termoelectrica Planta Pucallpa - 40 MW Central Termoelectrica Planta Maldonado - 20 MW Consorcio Energias del Peru took part in a competitive bidding for the sale of electricity to the national grid, and the winning offers were the rates of US$ 11719/MWh-month and US$ 9147/MWh-month for the Pucallpa and Maldonado plants respectively. The special purpose company Infraestructuras y Energias del Peru SAC was created to manage both power plants. The 20-year contracts were signed in August 2012. The total investment was estimated at US$ 27.45 million. According to the regulatory agency Osinergmin, financial closure was achieved in January 2015. Commercial operations were expected to commence by the end of 2015. |
