The Infrastructure Asset Management Project seeks to achieve an objective so that transport and coastal infrastructure assets are economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable and managed by an effective partnership of all stakeholders. There are five project components. 1) International airport infrastructure will increase the capacity for safe handling of international air traffic and improve Samoa Airport Authority's financial viability. It will support rehabilitation and extension of runway, improvement of terminal building and control tower facilities, acquisition of fire emergency vehicles, and engineering and architecture services for design and construction supervision. 2) Road system infrastructure will improve reliability and safety of road system assets. 3) Coastal infrastructure will initiate environmentally and socially sustainable management of coastal infrastructure. 4) Institutional development will change management of infrastructure to be service-oriented, involving public, private and community stakeholders. 5) Project management will handle project preparation and establish a project management unit.
