Infrastructure Improvement Project Continues in San Mateo

As part of its ongoing commitment to ensure water system infrastructure remains safe and reliable, Cal Water has an infrastructure upgrade underway in the Highlands-Baywood Park neighborhood of San Mateo. The upgrade will ensure customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs. The project, which began in early 2020 and is being performed in phases, includes the installation of approximately 20,000 feet of new PVC and ductile-iron water main. Crews will also install 288 individual customer service connections and 35 fire hydrants across the entirety of the project. Crews completed the installation of new water main on Parrott Drive, from Laurie Lane to Los Altos Drive, in mid-September. Crews continue to install new main in the Highlands-Baywood Park neighborhood, along portions of Laurie Lane, Bel Aire Road, Lakeshore Drive, Enchanted Way, Starlite Drive, Linden Lane, Ascension Drive, and Bunker Hill Drive. "As essential service workers, our crews are committed to ensuring that a reliable supply of safe, high-quality water remains accessible to San Mateo residents and businesses for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs, both now and for years to come," said District Manager Ross Moilan. "This important infrastructure upgrade is just one part of our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to our customers and to ensure first responders can protect the community in an emergency."
