Infrastructure projects in connection with land reform III

This FC measure represents the third phase of support for the national Namibian program for implementing land reform in communal areas. The responsible ministry MLR (Ministry of Lands and Resettlement) is to be supported in implementing the comprehensive national Program for Communal Land Development (PCLD). The PCLD addresses the priorities for the development of communal areas that were defined in the ministry's strategic plans and the underlying Land Reform Action Plan. The FC measure is intended to help improve the living conditions of the rural population through the development of communal areas and better integration into Namibia's formal economic cycle (overall objective). The project objective of the PLCD is for the population in the communal areas to secure their land rights, introduce sustainable land use practices and increase their productivity and market orientation through infrastructure investments and access to advisory services. The FC contribution of around EUR 8.5 million will be made available to the Ministry of Lands as basket financing (fund) in which the EU and the Namibian state participate.
