Description

The Inland Water Transport Project for East Pakistan will finance part of its inland water transport development program in East Pakistan. This project will consist of staff, and equipment necessary for the surveys required for the improvement of inland water transport operations and the maintenance of the navigable waters of East Pakistan. Inland water transport continues to be of great importance to the economy of East Pakistan, and plays a large part in the movement of cargo and passengers. The waterways are the only means of transportation in many areas. This project is part of a continuous program and is necessary for the present and future improvement of inland water transport operations in East Pakistan, and has been planned with the assistance of qualified consultants.
