The courage to invest in innovation can be difficult for small businesses. By connecting the smaller activities with university students, the Innomatch project hopes to solve this. Participants in the Innomatch project have seen that small businesses may find it difficult to invest in innovation. It may be that they lack resources as well as tools to bring new knowledge or science into the company. This, in turn, can prevent them from growing. Innomatch wants to help these companies. The problem for small businesses is that they have limited resources, both economically and scientifically. Nor do they have a tradition of working with scientific institutions. Then we think that collaboration with students can be interesting for them to gain new knowledge, but it also gives students an opportunity to train their entrepreneurship," says Ruth Strøm, Project Manager for Innomatch. Collaboration broadens competence: In order to achieve this in the best possible way, the project believes it is crucial to cooperate across borders. In this way, the project will have access to more institutions with different competencies, and can better meet the needs of the organisations. — It is important that we have as wide a range of educational subjects and levels as possible, in order to meet the needs of companies. But cross-border cooperation is also important to reach a critical mass of students. The target group of the project is broad, but they think that internationalisation can be an interesting area to explore. Similarly, if a Danish company lacks knowledge in a Swedish industry, or vice versa. Then the project can serve as a good first opening. Educating and informing about smaller activities: The process for the project is that businesses submit a challenge to Innomatch, which the project then matches with a group of students. After that, students and the company work on the issue, during everything from a one-day workshop to a project that lasts for several weeks. The goal is to test different models to present what works best at the end of the project. During the project period, Innomatch will also teach students so that they have the right skills to work with smaller companies. It is hoped that the project will also create an increased interest in applying for internships or work in smaller activities. We want to help students get their eyes open because they can also work in smaller businesses, that there can be really interesting jobs there. But also show the students that you can work in both Denmark, Sweden and Norway no matter where you have studied," says Ruth Strøm.
