Innovation Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health Literacy in the Digital Era.

Musculoskeletal pain disorders imply a billionaire economic burden for the society and health care systems. The lack of fast translation and flow of high-quality scientific knowledge from research to both health professionals and non-health professionals’ communities may significantly contribute the problem. This seemingly relates to 1) the lack of the required digital skills of health professionals to find reliable information on the internet and use digital resources for implementing self-management of musculoskeletal pain disorders, and 2) to the low health literacy among non-health professionals. The “Innovation Alliance for musculoskeletal health literacy in the digital era: DIGI4Health” gathers HEIs, research institutions, VET providers, professional associations, and enterprises from different activity sectors to optimise and generate new innovative educational methods and content (curricula) to boost the link among scientific knowledge and health professionals and non-health professionals’ communities, by improving their digital skills. There will be 3 main milestones in the project: 1) to analyse the digital behaviour of health professionals and non-health professionals’ communities in searching and using online content related to musculoskeletal health, 2) to review the state-of-the-art with regards to evidence-based educational and self-management strategies with internet-based resources for musculoskeletal pain disorders, and 3), to develop educational content and digital technology for training and educating these two populations. The following results and multilingual materials will be conducted: 2 guidelines for best practices and digital behaviour, 1 MOOC, 2 online multilingual courses, 8 multilingual workshops, 10 webinars and streaming sessions, 1 online postgraduate programme, 1 hybrid (in-person and online) congress, and 1 Application Programming for gathering high-quality content and assessing musculoskeletal health literacy and knowledge.
