Description
Description | Within the framework of the project, the cooperation between the museum ships (MS Austria and Hohentwiel) and the networking of the institutions around Lake Constance, which reflect the technical and social heyday (20-30s of the last century) of the region, will be developed or expanded. The museum ships have an identity-building effect, represent a unique selling point of the region and are able to be a link (logistical and organizational) between the cultural sites and traditional companies around Lake Constance. The object and expected result of the project is the restoration of MS Austria, the development of a service structure for the two museum ships and the networking with the providers of regional cultural assets around Lake Constance. Starting position: The Lake Constance region was considered to be Europe’s technological innovation centre at the turn of the century until 1940. Names and companies such as Zeppelin, Maybach, Dornier, ZF, Saurer, etc. testify to this. Starting from this region, propulsion and aeronautical technology, as well as textile manufacturing technology and other technological innovations, spread all over the world. The roots of the spirit of innovation and start-up from the 1920s and 1930s are still to some extent noticeable today. The species of Lake Constance has and was of central importance for the cultural development of the Lake Constance region, including the river basins of the Rhine. This also had an impact on the settlement, trade in goods until the 19th century and, subsequently, the development of recreation and tourism in this region. Transport sailors and steam tugs have long disappeared, only the last steamship, the Hohentwiel (1913), was rescued in 1990 by an enormous use of private persons (from Switzerland, Germany and Austria). To this day, the Hohentwiel is the only public ship operated in the original style of the 1920s at Lake Constance and forms a cultural highlight in summer. MS Austria connects directly with the time and has the potential to significantly expand the offer at Lake Constance (summer and winter); — the Lake Constance ships are a “mirror of the heyday” and are suitable for a lively mediation. The operation of the museum ships is intended to contribute to the upgrading of the Lake Constance site and to highlight the peculiarities of the cultural heritage (innovation spirit). This requires new cooperation and cooperation with institutions around Lake Constance. The actors of the project want to contribute to the topic of this valuable cultural asset of the historical “innovative location Lake Constance” and used for the development of the site by adding the value of the museum ships from the heyday of the 1920s and 1930s. An important goal is also to ensure the sustainable (subsidy-free) operation of museum ships on Lake Constance. Measures to achieve the project objective: _Restoration of MS OESTERREICH. Faithful reconstruction of components, mobilisation of civic engagement. _Development Organisation for the management and operation of two museum ships. The aim is to achieve maximum synergies through the new cooperation. After the analysis phase, it is about organizational development with the affected organisations and employees. _New cooperations. From existing databases, documents on historical peculiarities from the Gründerzeit (1870-1930) around Lake Constance are collected and the cultural-historical development of Lake Constance is examined. In the course of the collection activities, ideas of conveying the cultural property are also to be developed. As a result, it will form new cooperations and institutional cooperation. _Gastronomic care. Development of a gastronomic concept of both ships. Based on the concept, the infrastructure can be planned. _Planning of the dock. Part of the project is the planning of the pier of the museum ships and the supply infrastructure itself. _Positioning public relations. Development of a public relations concept. As a result of the work, a strategy document and an adapted appearance are expected. |
