Description

Description

The Schar Cancer Institute is the first major project in Inova’s new Center for Personalized Health (ICPH) in Falls Church, Virginia. The project included the renovation and expansion of a 273,000-square-foot core-and-shell office building into a state-of-the-art cancer center. The 147,000-square-foot Building A addition features specialty equipment, including three MRIs, two CTs, high-density radiation vaults, and three linear accelerators. Building B, which Clark renovated and expanded, includes a main lobby, multiple pharmacies, and clinic spaces specializing in certain types of cancer. The project also included the replacement of the curtain wall system and a new entrance pavilion, providing a more inviting atmosphere for visitors and staff. Because the project took place in what was once the Exxon/Mobile campus, Wilmot Sanz designed the center within and around the existing office building footprint. The Cancer Institute design reuses the existing office buildings and created additional technical equipment spaces.
