Description

Description

The main objective of the project is to implement a network of publicly accessible hydrogen recharging stations for light and heavy-duty vehicles. This project is located in Madrid metropolitan area, and its objective will be achieved by deploying 5 Hydrogen Refuelling Stations at 350 and 700 bar, fully operational and 24/7 available for users, and one electrolyser to supply green hydrogen based on renewable energy sources. Fostering the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles powered by green hydrogen will contribute to the decarbonisation of the transport segment and freight by road. This is in line with the EU climate and energy goals by 2030 and 2050 and several directives and regulations. This project is part of a Global Project which aims to achieve the EU Green Deal climate objectives and the EUFit-for-55 relevant legislation in force. The objectives of this project are embedded in the Spanish Long-Term Decarbonization Strategy (ELP 2050) and as well in the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) 2021-2030. In addition to the main scope related to the reduction of GHG and pollutant emissions, the project will contribute to promoting the quality of the urban environments, and the energy efficiency of the transport system of the Madrid metropolitan area. This project will help reducing the Spanish energy dependence from external sources based mainly, fossils sources, as well as leverage the market of renewable energies. It will contribute to achieve the targets of the Spanish national Hydrogen Roadmap (supporting the objectives of creating 4 GW of electrolysis capacity, and 100-150 public hydrogen stations by 2030), strengthening the entire renewable energy value chain from the infrastructure for its generation, the supply and the end users for the transport sector. The project is complementary to a Horizon Europe initiative “Energy, Climate and Air Strategy Horizon 2030 of the Region of Madrid”. Among the different actions this plan will implement, it is to be noted that it aims to deliver a 100% renewable hydrogen-based mobility. In Spain, green hydrogen is prioritised because of its potentials and benefits. This initiative highlights the importance of incentives to procure vehicles, the development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, and the e implementation such projects’ type
