Description
Description | INSPIRE is a major EU-funded research initiative involving scientists and innovators from 13 EU countries, Serbia, and Thailand. The project aims to stop plastic pollution in rivers before it reaches the ocean by developing a range of new tools including smart detection systems using drones and AI-powered cameras, clean-up processes for capturing tiny plastic particles, and upstream prevention methods such as biodegradable packaging and bio-based polymers for agricultural use. The initiative is testing 20 different technologies across six European rivers including the Scheldt, Rhine, Danube, and Douro. |
